The San are one of the oldest tribes in the world; traditionally hunter gatherers in the Kalahari Desert. Unfortunately today’s reality is different; they are the most marginalised community in Namibia. The Clever Cubs School was established in 2009 with the aim of providing a quality education to children who have historically been denied this opportunity.
The Clever Cubs School is run by the N/a’an ku sê Foundation which aims to conserve the land, communities and wildlife of Namibia.
At N/a’an ku sê, we believe every child has the right to a quality education and to the best start in life. The school students are the children of the families that live and work at N/a’an ku sê. It began as a pre-primary school, but now we are able to educate children up to grade 3. After grade 3, we sponsor children to attend mainstream primary school in Windhoek in order to further their education.
Clever Cubs is a place where passion is encouraged and enthusiasm is fostered. Learning, development and cultural heritage are at the heart of the school. The students regularly attend our ancient San skills academy where they hear stories and learn Bushmen skills in order to prevent the loss of this ancient culture.
We follow the government provided curriculum and undertake our classes in English.
