Little Vumbura is situated on a beautiful island in a private concession in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta. Surrounded as it is by water and lying close to large rivers, water-based activities are just as popular as those on land, both offering spectacular and diverse wildlife sightings.
In addition to helping to conserve the area, Little Vumbura is part of a community participation plan that brings the benefits of ecotourism to the communities that live around the Okavango Delta.The Vumbura Concession is leased from five villages through the Okavango Community Trust in a partnership that ensures that the benefits of ecotourism are shared with its neighbouring rural stakeholders.

Little Vumbura is a beautiful 6-roomed tented camp shaded by the canopy of an ancient forest. Each well-appointed tent has en-suite facilities and a deck with incredible vistas.

A plunge pool and reading area overlook the floodplains and a star deck leads off over the water from the dining area. There is also a curio shop and floating jetty.
• Day and night drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers each accommodating a maximum of 7 guests, allowing each guest an outside seat
• Water-based activities are offered on 6 and 8 seater boats and 2 seater mokoros
• Nature walks with skilled, armed guides, on request and subject to availability
• Birding around Little Vumbura is exceptional all year round, with migrant species present in the summer. Pel's fishing-owl is regularly seen, as well as other specials like wattled crane and slaty egret. It is an internationally recognised Important Bird Area (IBA)
• Fishing on a catch-and-release basis (fishing is prohibited in Botswana in January and February for fish breeding purposes). The camp has a small stock of basic rods and reels but fly fishing equipment is to be supplied by guest if required
• Hot air ballooning (weather permitting and operational from 01 April 2018 to 14 October 2018) with a minimum guest number of 2 and a maximum of 6. Options of transport to the balloon launch site, and back, include either via helicopter both ways, driven one way with a helicopter transfer or driven both ways. This activity includes a Champagne celebration on landing, with snacks, including commemorative flight certificates presented by the pilot. This is an optional activity at additional costs which can be settled directly in camp
• Scenic helicopter flights, offering a birds-eye view of the ecosystem and an insight into its formation, are also available and range from 30 to 60 minutes. This is an optional activity at additional costs which can be settled directly in camp
The camp also offers their guests bean bags to steady their camera while on a game activity. Hot water bottles (during winter months and on early morning game drives only), blankets and lined ponchos are also provided on game drives.
The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango Delta surrounding Vumbura Plains are locally referred to as 'melapo' and offer good seasonal viewing of elephant, giraffe, impala, sable antelope, kudu, zebra, common waterbuck and reedbuck, tsessebe, wildebeest, red lechwe and Cape buffalo. Hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways. Predators include the African wild dog, several resident prides of lion, as well as leopard, cheetah and African wildcat.
The birding in the Kwedi Concession is as varied as it is exceptional all year round. In the summer many migrant species are present. Pel's fishing-owl is regularly seen, with other specials including wattled crane, slaty egret, chirping cisticola, fan-tailed widowbird, pink-backed pelican and possibly rosy-throated longclaw for the dedicated birders.

The wildlife is diverse, so that both land and water activities on vehicles, mokoro and motor boats deliver an all-round African safari experience

• Children 6 years and older are welcome at Little Vumbura Camp. For families travelling with children between 6 and 12 years, private activities need to be booked and paid for additionally. Children between 6 and 16 years must share with an adult/s in the same room. The minimum age for boating activities is 6 years, while mokoro and walking activities have a minimum age of 13 years. For the hot air ballooning the minimum age restriction is 7 years and a parent/guardian must accompany any child under the age of 16.
